One of my absolute favorite parts of the toddler and elementary school phase is the level of excitement my children get from the simplest things—which at their age aren’t so simple. When I tell my daughter I’m going to take her to the playground to swing, or that she gets two treats if she finishes her broccoli—her eyes light up as if she hit the million dollar lottery jackpot. I want the innocence to never go away! I want to keep things simple for my children as long as possible, because the more they get, the more they want.
Alas, this morning my son wasn’t too impressed that I didn’t get the absolute latest iPhone available during my recent phone upgrade.
