Local Pediatric Urgent Care Provider to Honor Young Heroes in South Florida
After Hours Pediatrics introduces Every Child Makes A Difference
awards program at ArtServe Exhibit, June 10
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (June 1, 2010) – After Hours Pediatrics Urgent Care (www.afterhourspediatrics.com) has partnered with Broward County non-profit ArtServe to introduce its Every Child Makes A Difference® awards program, which acknowledges and rewards young heroes that have made exceptional contributions in their communities. The program will be unveiled during the opening reception of ArtServe’s “(InSIDE)/OUT!, Art as Healing Therapy” exhibit, open to the public on June 10, from 6-8 p.m., at 1350 E. Sunrise Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale.
Every Child Makes A Difference invites adults in the community to nominate “Young Heroes with Big Hearts” who have reached out in some way to help others. Through the awards program, these amazing kids will be publicly acknowledged for their contributions and rewarded with a valuable prize package made possible by community partners. Awards will be announced twice a year in both the 5-11 and 12-21 year age brackets, in each of the markets After Hours Pediatrics serves: South Florida, Tampa and Orlando. Twelve regional winners will be honored at a grand awards event in Summer 2011. Every Child Makes A Difference will be open for nominations August 1, 2010 at www.everychildmakesadifference.com.
“The partnership with ArtServe is an ideal platform to introduce Every Child Makes A Difference because of its parallel with the (InSIDE)/OUT! exhibit,” said Jason North, Executive Director, After Hours Pediatrics Urgent Care. “After Hours Pediatrics believes kids do amazing things every day and we created the program to recognize these deserving young heroes, while (InSIDE)/OUT! actually showcases the amazing acts of kids right here in South Florida.”
ArtServe’s (www.artserve.org) “(InSIDE)/OUT!, Art as Healing Therapy” exhibit will showcase artwork from the art therapy programs of local organizations, while reflecting on the value of the arts in positively shaping the lives of all individuals, namely those with disabilities. The traveling portion of the (InSIDE)/OUT! exhibit is dedicated to children, and will appear throughout Broward County until June 25.
“Every Child Makes A Difference was actually inspired by an After Hours Pediatrics patient who performed an amazing act that truly made a difference in her community,” added North. “We are very excited about the potential of this program to bring forth positive child role models and recognize their achievements in the community. We have dedicated our very best effort to bring this worthwhile community program to life, and we are eager to be joined by other community partners in order to make it the success we envision.”
